Picasso – The Kiss

Another Picasso classic, this was my third attempt at bending wood.  The deceptively simple lines are actually quite difficult to recreate in wood due to the number of multiple tight bend involved with the nose and mouths of the image.  While creating this image, I had the highest number of failures in regard to the thin strips of wood actually breaking while trying to bend them into the desired shape.  The effort was worth it as this is definitely a popular image that is quirky, fun and romantic.

Wood is finished and sealed in shellac. Mounted in a picture frame with double conservation mat boards.  Ready to hang.
